Who We Are

The National Nutrition Network

Early Childhood Education and Care NNN-ECEC

The National Nutrition Network’s mission is to promote healthy, sustainable food environments within Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) settings in order to positively impact the developmental outcomes for children.

Given the high volume of children who attend ECEC settings, there is an ideal opportunity to translate evidence for policy and practice to foster healthier and more sustainable food environments for the children accessing these services.

This is particularly important given the ECEC sector must now maintain national standards established by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA)

Our Mission

The National Nutrition Network’s mission is to promote healthy sustainable food environments within Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) settings in order to positively impact the developmental and health outcomes for children.

Given the high volume of children who attend ECEC settings, there is an ideal opportunity to translate evidence for policy and practice to foster healthier and more sustainable food environments for the children accessing these services. This is particularly important given the ECEC sector must now maintain national standards established by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).

In order to support the sector, the National Nutrition Network was formed as a mechanism to build collaboration between key stakeholders to impact systems.

Specifically, we seek to:

Facilitate discussions relating to research and professional development to drive future research, policy and practices.

Inform and facilitate healthy sustainable food environment research for translation into, policy and practice.

Share knowledge and expertise to reduce replication of research and resources and guide policy decision makers.

Foster quality research practices through collaboration and informal mentoring strategies.

Coordinate professional development to build members capacity to exchange knowledge, to influence research, policy and practice in the ECEC sector.

Our Values

To foster authentic collaborations and harness the power of ‘thinking together’ which supports the interest of our members desire to optimise the development of children and connect them with change agents that will realise this endeavour.

Provide a safe, respectful, and positive environment for members to exchange ideas and problem solve.
